FROM INFORMATION SOCIETY TOWARDS KNOWLEDGE SOCIETIES
Various world organizations are becoming increasingly involved in the process of philosophic analysis of modern society. UNESCO whose activities are based on working out different ideologies and practical recommendations for social institutions, is one of them. The World Report “Towards knowledge societies” suggests a profound analysis of social and humanitarian development of human society at the turn of the centuries. Besides, the concept of stable development of world society in the 21st century is being worked out. It's main idea is that the transition from information society to knowledge societies is necessary. The principal negative consequence of the former is a dangerous tendency towards social desintegrity at both national and international levels, the latter being focused on ethical values and cognitive competences. The report puts forward basic principles of overcoming disproportions and dealing with threats in humanitarian and technological areas faced by humanity in the 21st century.
